Are you stuck in the office? Not seeing any birds today?
No problem ... just click the link here and try a bit of virtual birding courtesy of Dempsey/Spielberg Productions.
Playing with my new scope at Martin Mere, I had a dabble at video-ing the birds on the main mere, with pretty mixed results, but I think you can make out most of what's about.
I'd tried putting the camera thro' my 'scope earlier at Marshside, but while I got a nice enlarged and fairly crisp image, it seemed "over-exposed" - I need to work on that.
Anyway, back to Martin Mere and the neck banded Greylag from Iceland, Pink Feet, a few hundred Whooper Swans, Ruff, Lapwing and assorted ducks - they're all there!
Okay, so it's not likely to get me a call from David Attenborough, but it probably beats the view from your office at the moment.
How many species can you identify (including calls, which you should be able to pick up if you've speakers on your computer).
I reckon there's between 10 and 20 ... but how many do you see and hear?
Eyes to the screen everybody, eyes to the screen ...
