Texts winged in from Jellyhead as I drove out of the city yesterday _ if only I had a hands free set!!!
Jellyhead Jackson reported 20 waxwings on Rice Lane, Walton (didn't they call in there over Xmas?) and back up in Southport, a peacock butterfly at Crowland Street, presumably disturbed from winter snoozing.
Out on Downholland Moss, recent reports from Derek Williams include:
JAN 7 _ 5,000 Pink Feet, Barnacle Goose, Barn Owl, 57 Jackdaw, 30 Teal
JAN 8 _ Lesser Canada Goose, 34 Curlew, 23 Long Tailed Tit, 26 Chaffinch, 32 Linnet.
JAN 9 _ 2 adult Peregrine.
JAN 10 _ 2 Cormorant
JAN 11 _ 2 Little Grebe, 5 Buzzard, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 7 Redwing, Fieldfare, 2 Raven, 56 Carrion Crow, Corn BUnting, Yellowhammer.
Blackbirds singing away before dawn now, only another four weeks or so to go before the days start to lengthen....
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies.

Question?! how do they know to follow the mobile library.
Shame it wasn't a music library _ then you could have said they were "waxwing lyrical...."
