Bill Merriman just e-mailed me from Childwall where he had five Redwings in his garden while clearing the snow yesterday _ winter doesn't want to make way for the Swallows just yet!
And there were good counts of Redwings displaced by the cold weather on Wirral at Heswall, Thurstaston and West Kirby _ once the weather improves (well, it has stopped snowing), these northern beauties should move on again.
If any stick around your area for the next few weeks into April, listen out for their song, usually delivered from the top of a tree, (like other thrushes), the notes are high pitched and all over the place _ but always nice to hear in Britain.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies.
