Great morning for migration today...misty and an easterly, perfect.
Already there's plenty of commoner migrants hitting the coast, but Tree Pipit, Lesser Whitethroat and Redstart should all be passing.
Several Willow Warblers are singing their little hearts out in the back garden at Dempsey Towers right now.
Tropical Thomason called last night about stuff and in passing mentioned he'd heard a calling Quail at the Cheshire Lines end of Black Moss Lane on the mosses behind Formby _ he listened on Tuesday for ages from the car, but typically for this skulker, didn't see it.
The report on Birdline yesterday of a calling Dotterel flying overhead in mist in North Wales suggests it's time to start checking Plex Moss for passage flocks of the ultimate wader _ it's worth years of not seeing 'em, just for the day when you come across a trip of them in the traditional field - marvellous.
Right, gotta go now, things to do, people to see.
My Daily Post column today is about the barnstormin' Barnston Alpine Swift.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies.
