Watched a singing Garden Warbler in the hawthorn hedge at Dempsey Towers yesterday evening, shortly after the heavy rain _ a new bird for the garden list.
It didn't stick around long, but conditions were obviously perfect for migrant arrivals yesterday, on the balmy draughts of the "Spanish Plume" of hot southerly air.
Swifts around the house had increased from two to six, and Swallows were still bombing through high quite late on (after 8pm).
The Osprey over Hilbre, then Crosby Marina, sounded exciting, but I'll show my bum in Burton's window if that was the rarest bird that came through......
