Westerly blowing a bit harder at Formby Point this morning, (9.50am to 1.05pm), perhaps force 4-5, so the birding was that bit better than yesterday.

Gannet 65
Manx Shearwater 8
Fulmar 22
Arctic Tern 14
Cormorant 5
Guillemot 6
Kittiwake 20
Common Scoter 15

Superb to see small groups of Manxies speeding through the troughs - what fliers, but not as effortless as those pearly grey and white Arctic Terns....stunning birds.
Houndstongue starting to flower in the dunes, and loads of clusters of the gorgeous Star of Bethlehem blooming.
Right, off to get the sand out of my billies now.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
