Getting kinda summery on the marsh now, so here's a selection of pics from me (the Common Blues, and Flame Shoulder Moth, and Neill - Cinnabar moth, Large Skipper, Silver Y moth, and two shots of Lapwing and Redshank from regular blogger SiG (or can we call you Simon?).

This fella (the Flame Shoulder) was shuffling around the Sandgrounders hide a week or so ago - nice moth, but common.

As usual, Neill Hunt's pics are better than mine, and while he had two Garganey and Black Tailed Godwits this week at Marshside, he was reduced to photographing bugs too....
Large Skipper, Cinnabar and Silver Y moth follow....

At least SiG took some shots of birds....

Ain't summer wonderful....
...and finally a press release from English Nature about botanical walks in the dunes at Ainsdale soon - and a nice picture from them of Southern Marsh Orchid.

Come and join us for a wildflower walk through the sand dunes.
If you want to find out more about the beautiful flowers in our dunes come along!
The dunes are spectacular over the summer, from the eye catching southern marsh orchid to the wonderfully named sticky stork's-bill. It is your chance to see some of the 460 flowering plants that have been recorded here. Once we have helped you identify the flowers we will unlock some of the mysteries that surround them. We have plants that are reputed to cure baldness, calm your temper, ward off dog bites and cure conjunctivitis.
Please book a place by ringing 01704 578774
