Encouragement ought to be given for Nest Record Cards to be filled in and submitted. In 2005 only 274 Dunnock and 1064 Blackbird nest record cards were returned for the whole of the UK! This would be a simple and effective way for everyone to contribute to national recording and enhance their 'bird-watching' participation.
How do people go about getting the nest record cards Bob?
I have a boxful!
If individuals want to take it up 'seriously' they can contact the BTO nest records unit (nest.records@bto.org) for a starter pack. If they want more information - well worth a look - they can view: http://www.bto.org/survey/nest_records/index.htm
Otherwise they can get some cards from me.
