Baking hot at Marshside this am - even the feral Barnacle Geese just dozed away....
That said there was a fairly large flock of hirundines around the Sandplant pools, including Sand Martin, the pair of Ruddy Duck had six young out on the water, and a Yellow Wagtail flew over the Sandplant calling.

A big Lanner (falconer's escape) spooked everything on the outer marsh as Bazzo and I walked out to Mount Baker.
There were 17+ Golden Plover on the edge of the mudflats, Kestrel, Meadow Pipit and a few Linnet flocks.
The Reed Warbler is still singing in the SSSI ditch, but as the only water on the reserve now is at the Hesketh Road end, Junction Pool, and the creeks of Marshside Two, it was fairly quiet.
At least 11 Grey Herons on M2 though, and Shoveler with young.
Nipped over to Martin Mere which was also slowly melting in the heat.
Seven Avocets on Vinsons Marsh, about 20 Ruff, a single Greenshank and two or three Snipe amongst the Redshanks and Lapwings show wader passage is picking up, but best bird was probably an adult Cuckoo which perched up at the back of the marsh, way too far away to get a decent pic, but I had a try anyway.....

Very pale buzzard mooching about there.
Brimstone Butterfly, Red Admiral and Speckled Wood on the wing.
Eyes to thes skies everyone, eyes to the skies - but keep your shades on....
