Robins "ticking" away in the back garden at Dempsey Towers this morning (5.20am), Wrens singing.
Swallows heading south high and twittering, and a few small groups were passing through yesterday evening too.
No sign of our local Swifts last night, but I think it's a little early for them to have moved on just yet (perhaps in a week or so they'll be gone).
They raised up to 19 young between three or four pairs this year, but as they never stop whizzing about, it's hard to be sure...
Jackdaws and House Martins have joined the kettles of wheeling gulls (mainly BHGs) feasting on flying ants as they emerge from the cracks in our path
Steve Cross had a singing Grasshopper Warbler at Hightown up to last weekend, but it's passage time now.
Tides aren't too bad this weekend, so if the wind picks up there's always a chance of a seawatch...otherwise it's time for a spot of wader watching - with several Yankees on the east coast at present, who knows what's lurking over here...

Had a brood of robins (2) fledge this morning, one of which was barely able to get into the air. Parents were on guard duty, as was I, 'cos the bloody Magpies were hanging around - no doubt waiting for an early breakfast. Swift's are still with us but I'm thinking some must have gone because they have been quieter of late. Masses (for us) of Goldfinches feeding in the garden (sunflower seed and nijar) with approx 2 juveniles per pair. Small tit flock went through yesterday evening; together with a cruising kestrel - a rare event.
