New eye-piece and mere

Picked up a new eye-piece for the big fat Nikon 'scope yesterday at the mere.

The 30w lens made things a lot brighter and sharper, and I tried a few pix of the Tree Sparrows that hang around all over the place there (70 pairs last year).
I'm still happier taking pix through my old Kowa though, still practice makes perfect....
No sign of the two Pec Sands reported there earllier in the day, but lots of Black Tailed Skimmers from the United Utilities hide, Lapwings, Black Tailed Godwits etc.
Corncrake seen at mere at 8pm on Friday - presumably a returning migrant, so long gone by the time I got there!
Had a calling Greenshank over Hillside as I strolled down to Tropical's house en route to the pub at roughly the same time on Friday.

Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies....

Nice pics John.

I didn't get out over the weekend. But I did have ... a cockatiel in a eucalyptus tree overlooking my back garden on Saturday morning. And today on the train to Liverpool another sighting of the Barn Owl, close by this time over the moss as the train pulled out of Hightown Station, at 10.30am. That's twice in the last few days in broad morning daylight.
