Pretty good seawatch with Bazzo and Jellyhead today off the Tobacco Dump from 11.15am to 2pm.
Cloud and sunny periods and a NWly force 5...but if it picks up as forecast and rains tonight it could be even better tomorrow (time for a Leach's anybody?).
There was a steady passage of terns south, and the Black Guillemot, while no longer a rarity in Lancs/Merseyside is still a scarce bird - ours was a very white and grey youngster, tazzing south half way out.
Cracking near adult Arctic Skua south too - but it was really Common and Arctic Tern passage that was the main event today.
Guillemot 1 south
Black Guillemot 1 south
Arctic Tern 30+ south
Common Tern 50+ south
Gannet 18 (horizon jobs)
Sandwich tern 10 south
Kittiwake 3
Great Skua 1 north
Arctic Skua 1 south
Cormorant 8 (all over the place)
Common Scoter 30+ (ditto)
Manx Shearwater 1 south
LBB 12 south

Not a bad bag for a pleasant day.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies....
