Press release from Lancs County Council - People looking for something different to do on Sundays are being invited to “take flight� on the Bittern Bus.
The service is a great way to ride round some of Lancashire’s finest countryside each Sunday in the form of the Bittern Bus. Travellers also get chance to see some of the county’s birdlife as part of their trip.
The bus travels through Carnforth and into the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) around Arnside and Silverdale and via the RSPB at Leighton Moss nature reserve. It leaves Lancaster University at 9.55am and Lancaster Bus Station at 10.10am.
The single fare is just £1.50 for an adult or £3.00 for an all day Bittern pass allowing you to get on and off the bus anywh ere on the route with just the one ticket.
As a special bonus Bittern Bus ticket holders can also obtain free access to the RSPB Leighton Moss worth £4.50 on presentation of a valid bus ticket. There is also a free Bittern Bus guided walk on the first Sunday of every month at 11am.
The return bus from Arnside to Lancaster leaves at 3.45pm and there are additional journeys from Carnforth to Arnside at 12.35pm and 2.35pm with returns from to Arnside at 11.45am, 1.45pm and 3.45pm.
