Barry McCarthy caught the tide for a seawatch at Formby Point this afternoon (1.20pm to 4.10pm) - 2 Storm Petrels, 237 Manx Shearwaters, 5 Little Terns, 1 Arctic Skua, plus Gannets, a few scoters, Arctic Terns etc - tomorrow could be a belter if the wind keeps up!

Well George there is a trick to counting shearwaters past Formby Point - or anything else for that matter....
When you get into counting mode, you set your 'scope up on the Lennox oil and gas rig three miles offshore and use it as a tally post - easier than taking a guess from birds at any position 180 degrees in front of you.
Then you log anything that passes in front of the rig - easy peasy.
