Tropical was out at Marshside yesterday but reports it as quiet, apart from a southern passage of Meadow Pipits and Swallows.
He got these pictures of this Wall butterfly on the southern slopes of Mount Baker. Nice one Paul.

I had at least three Sparrowhawks driving (me, not the accipiters) from Liverpool out to Southport today, all quite high - tempting to think they may have been on passage?
Really good views of a female in the garden yesterday evening too - but that is one of our local pair though.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies....

Autumn has definately arrived - 160 Meadow Pipits on Rimmer's Marsh on 30/08, 4 Marsh Harriers on Crossens outer the same day & a regular Merlin too.
Up to 180 Black-tailed Godwits are now using Rainford's lagoon again and this morning 140 Teal were flushed off Polly's lagoon by Tom Sutton our tenant farmer. Three Greenshank & a Green Sandpiper add to the autumnal feel- eyes on the marsh everyone, eyes on the marsh.........
