
Thanks to Lynda Husband, who sent me these shots of a Hummingbird Hawkmoth feeding on abelia in her garden in Mossley Hill last Wednesday - better results than I've managed so far tryng to get a pic of the moth of the moment!

Clearly sneaking up behind 'em is a good tactic.
Incidentally while we're on the subject of moths, I've added Tropical's shot of Clifden Nonpareil in a holding jar at Spurn to the relevant blog entry - "That's enough seawatching", the one with the Spotted Flycatcher pic.
Ron Jackson e-mailed after seeing the funny Shelduck out on Banks Marsh again, which he first saw last week, but distantly. Better views show it's a Cape Shelduck.
