Woke up on Sunday morning at Flamboro' to be confronted with another foggy start, so we checked the fields and hedges instead, still failing to turn up a Wryneck which had been teasing us for the last 48 hours.
Plenty of Whinchats and a few Wheatears about though, and a few Yellow Wagtails.
Things were looking up, so we zipped down to Spurn, via Hornsea Mere, where there were close to 500 Little Gulls feeding over the water. Very impressive.
It was hot and sunny at Spurn, and after the megamoth overkill of Clifden Nonpareil (what a stunning moth) and Privet Hawkmoth in the same holding jar, we went to try to find a few birds.
Here's Tropical's shot of the Clifden Nonpareil....

I knew I should have pinched Barry Spence's print of it, out of a jar and showing off its lovely blue underwings......
This Spotted Flycatcher was my first of the year I'm ashamed to say - but it shows how scarce they are getting now.

Loadsa Whinchats at Spurn too, with Little Stint, Greenshanks, Lesser Whitethroat and Willow Warblers.
Few Robins were singing away, an autumn sound despite the heat.

A good way to wind down in the hot sun before the drive home. Brum brum...
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies.....
