Standard press release follows from a pet
company, which I imagine sells ‘hog boxes.
If the figures pan out it has some interest though.
And it gives me an excuse to run this pic of a hog I found in my garden
this May.
Covered in lice…
“A survey has revealed today that more hedgehogs scurry to the North
West's gardens than any other wildlife species.
Hogs have been reported by 63 per cent of those surveyed as the most
identified species within the region's gardens - even above sightings of
foxes - with only 42 per cent of people spotting them darting across
their lawns.
The independent wildlife survey, commissioned by Pets at Home also
revealed that 98 per cent of residents in the North West regularly see
wild species in their gardens ranging from the common insect, to the
more elusive wood mouse. With 75 per cent of those surveyed making a
conscious effort to conserve nature and eager to attract wildlife into
their gardens.
The survey found that nature lovers in the North West employ a range of
techniques to encourage wildlife, with 64 per cent keen to grow wild
flowers, plants and shrubs and 65 % of residents leaving out extra food
and water to attract various different wild species. " The North West
has the second lowest population of wood mice, with only 28 per cent of
respondents reporting a sighting
Half of the residents asked in the North West reported sightings of bats
75 per cent of those surveyed in the North West make a conscious effort
to attract wildlife as they enjoy watching them in their gardens.”
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies ...
