Whizzed over the moss this afternoon, but it was fairly quiet....
Plenty of Woodpigeons, Pheasants, corvids etc on the Withins and Plex Moss, but very few geese - only had one skein of about 150 pinkies heading west over Halsall.
Two Grey Herons feeding on the tilled field opposite Jospice at Thornton.
Earlier in the day Mrs D had a greater 'pecker in the garden at Dempsey Towers, and just before 4.30pm I had a single Raven flying over the garden, heading towards Ainsdale beach - perhaps they're starting to scavenge down there like they did in the early 80s?
No Redwings yet, but it may be worth a listen tonight after a quick conference with Mr Peroni....

Hi,
This evening about from about 5.30 there was a few thousand pinkies landing and lifting on the huge stubbles next to Thornton cemetery.
Rare bird at Marshside:
A bulky greyish-buff warbler with thickish dark bill on Hesketh GC Sunday morning turned out not to be a Barred Warbler, but a leucistic Dunnock, something I've never seen before, and never want to see again.
Three Little Egrets on the saltmarsh, two juv/1st W Curlew Sandpipers at Polly's Creek, and a covey of nine Grey Partridges on the lower slopes of Mt Baker completed the day's excitement, although at least 10 peacock butterflies were about in the warm breeze.
