After the lengthy Leighton Moss plug, the least I can do is support Martin Mere's events for the coming month (although the least the mere could do is send me the release DIRECTLY in future, pretty pur-lease).
Silver Y Moth on the wing at Dempsey Towers last night, how much milder can it get?
Anyway, here's the Martin Mere press release....

"January Events at WWT Martin Mere

WWT Martin Mere has a variety of events planned throughout January and February, offering the community the unique chance to experience the haunting sound and the thrill and enjoyment of watching over one thousand Whooper Swans on the Mere.
There are three early morning events at dawn. Dawn Flight includes an early morning hide visit with a warden on Saturday 20th January at 7.15am or Saturday 3rd February at 7am; Dawn Photography allows you to have access to the entire reserve from 7.30am onwards on Saturday 27th January to watch birds, take some photographs or simply enjoy a dawn walk around the reserve. Breakfast is included on these events and each one costs £15 for non-members and £12 for members.
The community can also still enjoy the unique wildlife spectacle: Wild Swans by Floodlight on a Tuesday night. You will see beautiful wild swans and ducks at close quarters from the comfort of a heated observatory whilst the wardens provide a fascinating live commentary and answer any questions you may have, making this event a once in a lifetime opportunity to see huge numbers of wild swans in their natural habitat. The events will take place until Tuesday 13th February and start promptly at 6.30pm until 8pm. Booking is essential for this event and it costs £7.95 adult, £5.95 concession, £3.95 children and £18.95 families.
To book onto any of these events call 01704 891220.
WWT Martin Mere is open every day from 9.30am to 5.00pm and parking is free of charge. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6. The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations. Visit the web site http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit/martinmere/
to find out what’s on all year round at Martin Mere and the other eight centres."

So there you go.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies....
