Out on Plex

Such a sunshiny day I headed out onto the Withins and the Plex Moss this afternoon in search of a Wheatear.
Always finds it adds a frisson to my driving when I'm looking at ploughed fields to the left and right rather than the track and deep ditches either side as I tootle along.
No sign of any Wheatears, but the wind was quite westerly and surprisingly cold.
Plenty of paired up Oystercatchers, Lapwings, Shelduck, Red Legged Partridges etc on the Withins, and while Plex was fairly quiet, I did see the Kingfisher which Derek Williams has been reporting over the last month, as it sped down a ditch directly opposite Gettern Farm.

It whizzed by a second time, but it is hard to follow down the narrow ditches - worth a look tho'
Flock of about 40 Curlew nearer Ainsdale, and plenty of singing Skylarks.
This Buzzard was getting major Magpie hassle in a pasture close to the back of Formby Hall Golf Club, and soon flapped off into the trees again for a bit of peace and quiet.
