A real walk on the wild side ...

Thanks to Echo reporter Catherine Jones who sent me these shots from the other side of the world, nice one Catherine, this is one trip I am seriously envious of ...

Catherine went, so she can tell it:

“John - a few words about the Galapagos.
"Cruise ships packed with the midnight-buffet-and-spa brigade are already venturing into the waters around the 'Enchanted Isles', so I wanted to see these unique islands before they were over run and changed forever.
"Sailing on a 16-berth yacht between Espanola, Floreana , Isabela and Bartolome - usually accompanied by a gaggle of frigatebirds - I had the chance to see these amazing Darwinian creatures and their incredible habitats close up.
"Here are a few of my pictures from the trip, but my albums are full of shots of blue footed and nazca boobies, galapagos doves, albatross, flightless cormorants, lava herons, pintails, flamingoes, whimbrels, oystercatchers, and the inquisitive, impossibly cheeky mockingbirds.

Catherine has a blog of her own, on the ins and outs of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture plans for 2008 –although looking at these shots, she should start her own birdblog!

30 Manxies off Formby in an hour and a half today. Other odds and ends included 14 Gannet and 1 Fulmar.

At the Lowry yesterday saw a book by a professional photographer that included a shot of the Formby Point seawatchers.
