Sprawk

The more discerning visitors to the blog will have noticed a certain absence, of how shall we put it, Bazzo, Jellyhead, Neill, Trops and I over the last week or so, but we're back tomorrow and the full horror of our latest intercontinental birding mission will be revealed.
Meanwhile I couldn't help noticing the Collared Doves in Dempsey Towers had increased to five individuals just before I went - critical mass here, as once they reach this number, one inevitably gets whacked by the local sprawk.
Will I come home to a neat pile of grey feathers in the garden and a stunned silence of traumatised doves?
Only time will tell, meanwhile what have we been missing while we've been away?
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies ...

Hi John I look forward to reading about your trip. I had 2 Swifts over Crosby this afternoon

Well you missed a wheatear and whinchat alight on the same fence post whilst a grasshopper warbler reeled away in the background (along with willow warbler, chiffcahaff and blackcap in greater numbers than last week), with buzzard and swallows overhead - much to the delight of health walkers at Sutton Manor Woodland yeasterday [yes the Forestry Commission site by the M62!!].
