Got down to Marshside for a few hours this afternoon after a week straight from hell.
Plenty of Swifts and hirundines feeding low, with a female Wheatear around the Sandplant.
Avocets everywhere - and good numbers of young too.

The Canada goslings looked as appetising as ever - pop 'em straight in the oven, gas mark 5....mmmmmmm.
Marsh orchids blooming at several places.
About 100 Dunlin at various pools around the site, and the Curlew Sandpiper was still on Marshside One, as were the usual Blackwits and Redshank.

Some ducks beginning to look a bit scabby, but male Wigeon and Ruddy Duck on the Sandplant lagoon and a pair of Teal north of Nels, where there were Shoveler and Gadwall as you'd expect.

Ringed Plover with the Dunlin there, a fine full summer plumage Golden Plover mooching round the deeper vegetation about halfway across M1.
Reed Warbler singing south of Nels, Whitethroats still going mental....

Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
