ECHO snapper, the great Eddie Barford collared me in the office today and showed me this pic he took over Hightown in the week - a Common Buzzard, presumably one of the birds from Ince Blundell Woods, but there's so many around these days, who knows?
Thanks for the shot Eddie, sorry I had to blat it up so much to use the thing!
What to do this Bank Holiday weekend?
Well the forecast is for rain early on Sunday, then brightening up, so that could ground a few migrants at Marshside with any luck, Hilbre was good today, so we deserve a few spring bonuses.
And with the number of Dotterels being recorded on the Pennine hills and North Wales at the moment, the traditional fields on Plex and Altcar Mosses have got to be worth a check.
99 times out of 100 they ain' t there, but when they are it more than makes up for it....
Gotta go now, I've got an appointment with the Hesketh Arms.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies....

Had a day at Marshside today.
It started slow, then got better.
No sign of the reported Wood Sandpipers, however we did have a Curlew Sand, a Greenshank and 2 Whinchats.

Hi John,
Two female Whinchat and a male Greenland Wheatear out on the peninsular today; one Greenshank on the pool out on the saltmarsh and the Curlew Sand still from Nel's.
