Eagle Owls - home and away

This one is hanging around Leyland Road in Southport - presumably the bird that has been seen in Chambres Road too, but you never know...
With reports of one in Ainsdale as well, Eagle Owls are steadily taking over the world, which is no bad thing as long as it's just the cat population they're keeping down.
Could be that they're being delivered in pods under the cover of darkness while we're all asleep a la "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers", either that or there's a lot of faulty locks on aviary doors.
Full story about the Leyland Rd bird in tomorrow's Southport Visiter.
Meanwhile, the boys went up to Bowland yesterday in torrential rain to ogle at the breeding pair up there and their young - despite atrocious weather they got good views of all five birds (both adults and the youngsters).
Neill took this shot of one of the adult Whitendale birds....

and here's a quick report from Tropical and three pix from him too....

Hi John,
After seein them on regional TV and hearing all the scary stories about dogs and small children being carried off, we just had to go and see the eagle owl family.
So Neill, Mickyboy, SiG and meself being fit and not fainthearted climbed the dizzy heights of Mount Dunsop.
There we enjoyed stunning views of mum dad and the 3 chicks lazing around the hillside throwing discarded dog bones at each other and snoozing in the heather.
What a fine example of tranquil domestic bliss, some of today's modern and dysfunctional families could learn here.
We would have stayed for more of this but the drizzle set in, so off to the nearest ale house, "The Moorcock" highly recommended, to dry the outer body while wetting the.................
oh you get the idea.

Thanks for the pix guys.
Did Marshside this morning but just for an hour or so, and it was pretty quiet apart from all the usual species.
Left before Neill caught up with a Redstart in the Forest of Bale.
Peregrine heading east over Dempsey Towers this afternoon.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies....

I saw a Little Owl at Bickerstaff late May. I have a snapshot picture, but I'm not sure how to post an image.
