Had a quick mini-seawatch on the tide off Ainsdale at 8.40am this morning, but it was very quiet - a few Common Terns, 4 Gannets and about 20 Common Scoters, plus the usual gulls and waders.

Then I went for a walk in the Birkdale Dunes - they were just bursting with Willow Warblers and Whitethroats - loadsa the critters!
Always good to listen to them in relative peace and quiet, away from road noise etc.
One rattling Lesser Whitethroat too but hidden largely in a dense patch of scrub and brambles, plus Blackcap, Sedge Warbler, four singing Chiffchaffs and a Jay.
A very mellow morning.

Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies....
