Chained to a computer all day I couldn't resist a quick scope from the dunes at Ainsdale this evening.
The tide was obviously a good way out, but the sea was still bumpy and the wind blowing 4-5 westerly-ish.
29 Manx Shearwaters and a single Kittiwake heading south repaid my efforts - not bad for 30 minutes, four or so hours after high tide.
They were a long way out mind, but Sandwich Terns were passing closer in.
It could still be worth another seawatch tomorrow if you can get out.

Scattering of Sanderling, Oycs, Redshank, gulls and a few Sandwich Tern on the beach, but that was it.
At least I got the tail end of a seawatch in.
Sands Lake quiet - usual Mute Swans with two (old and young) cygnets; 15 Tufties, Coots, handful of gulls scavenging bread as the sky darkened under the evening cloud.

A young brown rat eyed me coquettishly from three feet away as I digiscoped the Tufties - I've obviously still got it then.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
