Inspired by the good morning Bazzo had at Marshside today (see comment on previous entry), I nipped down to the marsh after work.
It was clouding over, and a north westerly breeze that bodes well for seawatching at the weekend was picking up.
5 or 6 Little Egrets about, around Polly's Creek and flying over the road and out onto the estuary, and the Glossy Ibis was running about like a lunatic on Marshside Two, between Sandgrounders Hide and Polly's Creek.
One distant Dunlin on Polly's and a small gull roost, but at least 70 Teal dabbling away, with smaller numbers of Wigeon.

Tufties and Ruddy Duck on the Sandplant Lagoon, and Swallows and House Martins there too, with a handful of Pied Wagtails in the old Sandplant compound.
An adult Little Grebe still had two young following it as it steamed and dived up and down the channels on Marshside Two.
No sign of the Kingfisher at Junction Pool, but more Teal there, and still more with about 15 Wigeon in front of Nels Hide, feeding in the algal gloop, and preening, presumably to get the slime off their plumage.

When you hear that Wigeon whistle again, you know winter's not far away - and the return of the first Pink Feet must be even closer, the first lot usually sneak in at the end of August...
20 Curlews with Golden Plover at the back of Marshside Two, Blackwits, 10+ Snipe etc.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
