Headed down to Marshside for an hour or two late this afternoon, just as the sun was breakng from behind the clouds.
Nice autumn feel to proceedings, with a few Meadow Pipits calling overhead, and Goldfinches feeding on the seedheads on Marshside One.
Two or three Little Egrets on Marshside Two, and at least 10 Pink Feet on Crossens Inner.
Blackwits nice and close as usual, but this one looked a bit the worse for wear.

Ten Ruddy Ducks (5m, 5f) with 3 young on the Sandplant Pool.
Teal, Wigeon and Snipe numbers have all shot up since I last visited, and this was nowhere more evident than down at Nels Hide.

The water was covered with ducks, and the Teal were dabbling away like a law banning dabbling was going to come into force at midnight...

At least seven Ruff still there, and more Snipe than you could stuff a good-sized pipe with - God knows how many are hidden in the grass at the moment.
Another ten Pinkies out on Marshside One, and a lonesome looking Golden Plover at the back of the lagoon.

Really nice early autumn afternoon, with small numbers of hirundines going through.

Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Follow the footpath into the dunes.
