A golden evening...

Spent a glorious hour in late afternoon sun on the Withins this afternoon, nothing out of the ordinary, but just good to be out.
At least 1,000 Pink Feet over towards Lydiate Station, and three Buzzards in the area, one being screeched at by a Tawny Owl (presumably the hawk was too near its roosting spot).
Two were on the deck, looking for rodents/bugs?
A Jay flopped by and two Stonechats were flitting about, including this male which hung its head in embarrassment at the antics of the Red Legged Partridges.

I don't blame the 'chat, the red legs were going crazy - croaking from the top of hay bales all over the place and chasing after each other through the stubble.

There must have been at least 40 of 'em in three fields around the long rhodedendron covert.
Out on Carr Moss another 500-600 Pink Feet were still feeding in stubble at 6.20pm, with more dropping in as the evening mist seeped in over the fields.
Quality time.

John ,
A couple of sightings that may be of interest !
Deep sea fishing west of Bardsey Island Thursday 5th October we had the company of 2 Great Skuas for about 30 minutes . All aboard were fascinated by the duels between the skuas and the local gulls and fulmars .
A single Pomarine Skua stayed with us briefly before continuing to the south .
On the way back in to Pwhelli we had the always enjoyable company of a bottlenose dolphin off Abersoch .
Walking at Wigg Island Sunday 7th October I was delighted to see a very active weasel running back and forwards across the path in front of us . No more than 10 yards away and with us for about 5 minutes before it disappeared into thick bramble cover . Didnt appear bothered by us two humans and our West Highland White at all .
Hope this is of interest ,
Regards Don Wilson
