Consolation shots!

Thanks to Rich Steel for sending me his latest selection of shots from in and around Wirral.
Just stunning.

"Reed Bunting and Stonechat were from Red Rocks recently in my vain attempts to get a shot of the Blyth’s Reed Warbler.
"Mind you I’m not surprised it kept low with that number of people crowded round the reedbed!!!!!"

Not bad as consolation shots go Rich - hope you had better luck with the Radde's Warbler at Leasowe/Moreton today.

Went for a seawatch at Formby Point this morning, but left at noon to twitch the Radde's Warbler at Leasowe.
Great views my second in Britain!
Seawatch produced a single Gannet, Razorbill, Sandwich Tern, 2 Red Throated Diver and 300 Common Scoter.

This is the second highest total ever for the county, and the highest October total by a considerable margin.
Over 22,000 of these are up around Pilling and the Wyre Estuary, with 5000 on the Ribble, 7000 roosting at MMWWT, 4000 feeding at Halsall, 2800 in the Altcar area and 4500 at Simonswood.
The counter on the Wyre is claiming 2 ad Lesser Whitefronts in the geese roosting there, so we need to keep our eyes open for that...
