Drove round the mosses this afternoon in preposterously warm sun.
Plenty of Small Tortoiseshells and Red Admirals about, but it was fairly quiet birdwise.
Tried to put the temptations of the east coast out of my mind, but it was hard when confronted with empty field after empty field.
The Withins held Kestrel, a handful of Meadow Pipits and Red Legged Partridge, while Plex had hordes of corvids, flocking Skylarks in the stubble and six Common Buzzards thermalling together.
A few hundred Pink Feet out on Carr Moss.
And that was about it.....the M62 is calling me.....
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies.....

Hi John,
While yourself and Senor Baz was chasing down rare reed warblers, I spent a quiet morning seeing b..... all bird wise at Marshside, but did manage a few bug pics. Managed at last to not only see a cone head but also photo it doing its ovi depositing thing on some sedum. Plenty of mig hawkers about, counted 6 at the central copse as well as 4 G S woodpeckers, 2 high overhead and going south.
See ya,
Tropical.
Ta Trops - will stick your pix on the next entry....no further sign of the Yellow Browed then?
