Snow Buntings, Ainsdale beach

After the Saturday shopping trek I nipped down to Ainsdale beach later in the afternoon to have a look at the two Snow Buntings that have been there since at least yesterday, when Chris Tynan was watching 'em.
Always nice to see Snow Bunts, but these two were a good mile or more south down the beach from the Lido at least.
They were at the top of the beach, under the dunes, just past the second metal barrier (about halfway between Ainsdale and Fisherman's Path!) but very, very flighty, flushed by kiters, vehicles and just about everything else inbetween.
One bird is a male, the other, hard to say in the fading light.

Got reasonable views as they whizzed about the sand in the strong wind, may try again tomorrow if conditions are better.
20 or so Linnets along the dune base too.

Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Haven't got the final total for this morning's Pinkfoot count yet, but there was a single flock of 9600 on Plex Moss that contained an adult Ross's Goose.
I had very good views of this bird as it was right on the edge of the flock nearest to where I was stood.
It definitely is Ross's.
Rather unusually there was also a flock of 300 Whoopers at Plex which contained just 3 Bewicks.
Earlier, whilst watching the Pinks come of the WWT roost, I saw the male Marsh Harrier - unusually late for an adult male to still be around.
5 Siskins flew over home at Churchtown this afternoon.

Snow Buntings still there today, between the two sets of metal barriers.
My 200th species for Lancs this year!
Lots of scoter offshore.
