Got out onto Plex Moss this afternoon, just as the blue sky disappeared behind the latest band of grey cloud.
Raw cold as hell, but at least the shooters seem to have packed up their double barrels and plus fours in the main, with just minor potshottery going on behind Formby Hall.
At least 59 Corn Buntings in the tree tops on Station Lane, with some in half hearted song.
They were joined by 30 Fieldfare and a handful of Redwings.
No sign of any Yellowhammer today though.
More Fieldfares on Plex Moss Lane, where there were 11 Mistle Thrushes, two Buzzards, two Kestrels and in the distance about 300 Pink Feet still on the fields of Carr Moss.
Seemed to have been a bit of an influx of Blackbirds, with several groups of five or more birds.
Three good sized (70+) flocks of Lapwings back on the stubble fields, where they were accompanied by Starlings and Skylarks.
Otherwise fairly quiet, but who knows what's lurking after the raging holey of the last few days?
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

We went for a walk yesterday (3.2.08) around a little fisherman`s lake/pond on the right of Carr Lane (which is off Huyton Lane, between Huyton and Prescot) going towards Prescot Tesco. We were lucky enough to see an acrobatic flock of 17 siskins meticulously extracting the seeds from the cones on an alder tree on the left of the pond!
It was a real treat on such a bitterly cold day, to see the males in particular, with their bright yellow markings and little black caps! Let`s hope they stick around for a while!
