Did my tetrads for the second two hour winter stint today on Plex/Carr Moss, but beforehand checked out the Withins.
A count of 44 Stock Dove there was mighty fine - the biggest count I've had in a while.
Otherwise fairly quiet - Buzzard, Lapwing etc, and a very distant immature Peregrine which pitched down about 500 metres from the track.
Good news of Skylarks singing out there now, with more on Plex and Carr Moss. One winter feeding flock held 60 birds as they trundled about in the set aside.
46 Corn Buntings, including one or two singing on Plex too, and a group of 106 Fieldfare wasn't bad either.
I walked the tracks which bisect Plex and Carr Moss, but Chaffinches, Blackbirds and more Woodpigeons than you can shake a stick at, were my only reward.
Small numbers of Grey and Red Legged Partridge about too.
Best bird was probably the Brambling that came into the feeders at Dempsey Towers this morning - a different bird to last weeks, it stayed for just as short a time...
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies.
