Made it to Marshside for a few hours this afternoon, and it wasn't bad.
Finally had two male Wheatears in Wheatear Corner (as is only appropriate), and a further four birds around the Sandplant - three males and what looked like a female, which seemed a bit early to me.
Typical, wait for days for one to come along, and six turn up at once.

They were feeding like mad, as were a small party of Meadow Pipits, trundling about picking away at the damp grass.

A phyllosc zipped across the car park as I was pulling in, but unfortunately it cleared off before I could get the bins on it.
Two Stonechats (a male and female) at the point, and Song Thrush calling from the Forest of Bale. Still a few Linnets feeding in the high tide rubbish.
Out on the marsh I was pleased to see at least 700 Pink Feet grazing just in front of Mount Baker, birds on the way back north soon.

A ringtail Hen Harrier was quartering the outer marsh, which was neat. No tags, but I think it was a young male.
Two or three Little Egrets about too, but the Sandplant Lagoon was fairly quiet, with roosting Cormorant, Oycs, gulls and Blackwits.
Only a handful of Tufties there.
At least 30 Avocets on Marshside One, and a further 6 around the Sandgrounders Hide, including this pair, who weren't letting the nippy westerly cool their lurve....

Oystercatcher, Lapwing and Redshank all displaying on Marshside Two.
The Green Winged Teal had been about earlier apparently, but the rain started to come down again, so I headed for home, pausing for a quick peek at the north end of Marshside One, where 20 Golden Plovers were looking mighty fine in summer plumage.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
