In case my awful shots at the weekend didn't quite convey the spritey stunningness of a Ross's Gull, along comes Rich Steel to put things right, with this superb collection of pictures of the Lytham St Annes bird.
If I hadn't pawned it years ago, I'd sell my soul just to have taken one of 'em!
Enjoy the gallery - and if you haven't gone to see the bird yet, what are you waiting for?
Thanks for sharing Rich (link to Rich's website on the right).

Wow.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Quite interesting at Marshside at 7.30 tonight.
2 drakes and one duck Garganey, to the right of Nel's Hide, plus 4 Little Stint, 11 Dunlin, 2 Ringed Plover, 4 Ruff - one looking very dandy, 15 Gadwall, massive influx of Sand Martins (30 plus), 20 Swallows and 5 Little Egrets flying over to roost (on the Marine Lake?)
Earlier had a Greenshank and 55 Golden Plover.
Eyes to the skies - or if you live in Wigan make that pies.
Further migrant arrivals at Marshside today (Friday, April 25) included 3 Swifts, calling Cuckoo on HGC and first singing Reed Warbler in the SSSI reedbed.
No Dotterel around Altcar Withins/Engine Lane/Broad Lane, but nice flock of 18 Stock Doves, actually they all seemed to be paired up. Shelduck in rabbit hole on Mount Baker and first day(s)-old Lapwing chick on the mosses.
One drake Garganey showing at Nel's and again evening hirundines very obvious with 40 Swallow and 20 Sand Martin. Still 50-odd Golden Plover back of Rimmers (M1) and some nice breeding-plumaged Ruff.
61 Whimbrel on same field at North Moss Lane, plus 12 White and 10 Pied Wags - no sign of any Fieldfares.
A fabulous male Yellow Wagtail with 25 Whites and a few Pieds at Curlew Lane, Burscough this afternoon, as well 8 Wheatear, 8 Corn Buntings and a Ringed Plover.
An adult Whooper Swan flew low over the fields towards MMWWT and seemed almost incongrous on such a late date.
Had a brilliant afternoon at Lytham meeting keen birders from Yorkshire.
Appreciated every detail of info they gave us.
Were thrilled by the Grey Plover that was pointed out to us and the info about the Ross's Gull, which we unfortunately didn't see!
Thank you
