Boy was that hot till the thunderstorm cooled things down a bit!
Did Marshside, which in the heat was fairly quiet, so I was putting my hopes on a fly-through; the best I managed though was a Yellow Wagtail over the Sandplant compound.
Wheatear on Mount Baker and Little Egret on the outer marsh, Meadow Pipits, Skylarks etc.
Avocets have hatched now and are staggering around in front of Sandgrounders, as was this lame Redshank.
Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat and Reed Warbler singing away in all the usual places.
From the Hesketh Road platform, I thought I heard a Lesser Whitethroat rattling on the golf course, but a bit of a rummage revealed only more Whitethroats, singing Chiffchaff and Blackcap.
Two drake Garganeys still on Marshside One, with a few Ruff, Ruddy Duck, Gadwall, very few Wigeon, a pair of Teal and Little Grebes.
Comma, Green Veined White and Peacock butterflies about.
Not many Swifts or hirundines moving today - just too hot I guess, but who knows what this evening's downpour has brought in...?

Has no one else seen the two White Stork that I and my car companions, one of them a Spaniard, saw on Friday evening over-flying Liverpool (Greenbank Park at 5.28pm on Friday)?
