Got down to Marshside for a few hours this afternoon - still plenty sunny with Whitethroats, Sedgies, Reed Warblers singing away, but the bottom of Marshside One is starting to dry up quite quickly.
Still three Wigeon there though (2 males and a female).
Plenty of water in front of Nels - and a single Reeve preening at the back.
This Lesser Black Back was able to settle for all of a minute before the Avocets drove him off - they're really worth keeping an eye on as a raptor/predator alert system.
If the Avocets freak, there's something about!
I couldn't see any Garganey today, but a male Ruddy Duck was on the Junction Pool with Tufties etc.
The Avocets and their young were driving the photographers in Sandgrounders into a frenzy - they couldn't fill their lenses up quick enough with Avocet porn at point blank range.

And while I'm at it, here's another cracking picture, this time from Austin Thomas, who caught these fighting Black Tailed Godwits in front of Sandgrounders a few evenings ago.

Meanwhile, Polly's Creek and Pool was perhaps the most interesting spot today - at least 60 Dunlin out there, with Redshank, Blackwits and Avocets.
These birds will repay regular checking in case something else drops in - you never know...
A few Linnets singing along the bank, and Swifts going over in small parties.
Green Veined Whites and Small Tortoisehells out and about and a few Garden Tiger (?) woolly caterpillars too.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
