Did Marshside today, more for the fresh air than anything - not much point doing the Sandplant Compound as the Scrote Family Robinson were in there again with their scrambler bikes...until a few phone calls moved them on.
The noise the bikes made was even attracting the attention of the Avocets in front of Sandgrounders Hide on the other side of the road.
The Glossy Ibis had been on Marshside Two, and plenty of feral geese and a pair of Ruddy Ducks on the lagoon.

A female Sprawk tazzed through, spooking the Blackwits, but it was kinda quiet, so I walked down to Nels, away from the roaring bikes.
(Just a thought, perhaps if I recycled the wine and beer bottles from Dempsey Towers in the compound instead of the green box (smashing them first of course), it may deter my track-suited little friends????).
Anyway, Nels was really really quiet - most of the water has gone, leaving a few muddy puddles, where Moorhens, two drake Wigeon and a few Lapwings were getting down and dirty.
Young Redshanks were doing a passable imitation of Wood Sandpipers at a distance, and a Buzzard was circling over Churchtown.
A female Mallard and her brood made use of one of the shrinking mud puddles, but a party of four very young Lapwing chicks looked seriously cheesed off by it all.
Reed Warblers still chuntering away in the reedbed, and Whitethroats singing on the bank.
Martin Mere's Spoonbill and Green Sandpiper may have been a better option today.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
