Lovely brisk south westerly today, up to force 7, but no tide on our coast to seawatch it on, which is frustrating - skuas and such like from the Fylde north, but the sea was a distant white flecked strip on the horizon from Marshside.
I'd picked Bazzo up earlier and after a fruitless check of the Sandplant compound and Mount Baker, we called into Sandgrounders Hide.
A few Blackwits and Snipe about, Ruddy Duck and a distant Little Egret on the west side of Polly's Creek, but that was about all.
The Junction Pool had more Blackwits, an ebullient John Bannon, four Dunlins and two Avocets - one an adult, the other a young bird, probably blown in off the outer estuary to shelter from the wind.
The mosses weren't much better - a quick look yielded Buzzard, Sprawk and Yellowhammer, and small parties of Swifts heading south - the ones that have summered round Dempsey Towers left yesterday.
Here's hoping the wind holds till the tides come good at the end of the week.
