Pretty bitty sort of day today - had a quick look for an hour over the tide off Ainsdale, despite the contrary winds.
6 Arctic Terns south amongst the commuting Sandwich and Common and frustratingly, what looked very much like a snow white Roseate with a fairly nice tail still further out, heading south.
From Ainsdale it was a good way off, but it certainly looked the part.
I believe one was seen off Formby today - anyone have any details?
Gannets fishing out on the horizon, about 50 Common Scoter and a single Great Crested Grebe.
Lots of Swallows moving down the coast south.
After shopping duties I had a quick check of the mosses - still three juv Marsh Harriers on the Withins with three Common Buzzards at least there, Sprawk, plenty of Red Legs, and more Swallows moving through, and on Plex Moss, another juv Marsh Harrier.

Finally, thanks to Mike Bird for sending me his shots of the 19 Spot Ladybird, emerging at Marshside yesterday.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Sometimes it pays to stay at home. Don't normally see many Swallows over my garden here in inner city Liverpool but today there were lots of parties of birds moving south together with House Martins against a gentle south easterly, also 7 Sparrowhawks and then the coup de grace, a high flying Hobby, twisting and turning although not pursuing the hirundines.
