Blimey, look at the state of these things!
Superb shots from Rich Steel (link to his site on the right) of leucistic Moorhens over on the Wirral - just shows it don't have to be rare to be weird, and weird is most definitely good.
Over to you Rich...

Explaining these bizarre birds, Rich says: "For the second year running the Moorhens in Wallasey Central Park have produced leucistic young.
Last year they produced one which disappeared but this year there are two.
"I had a quick web search and there is reckoned to about 4 of these in the UK which means if I can get both birds in a photo that's half the UK population in one shot!!!"

Incredible images - the everyday becomes the surreal - I might try taking a bit of gloss or emulsion to the Tufties, Little Grebes and Coots on the Sands Lake over the next week or so - it'll brighten up the winter...but what colour should I paint the Mute Swans???
Thanks, as ever, for sharing Rich.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Many thanks to Richard Steel for his pics of the white Moorhens in Central Park. These are the birds that my "stupid" mate Steve Gregory thought might be Cattle Egret!!
What a plonker!! Wait til I see him.
Robin.

Hi John
There's been standing water on the fields to the left of the train as it heads between Hightown and Hall Road for a few weeks now. Today was the first time I saw Redshank wading in the pools though, 3 of 'em.
Better than reading the Metro.
