Lightning quick tour of Marshside today, in between trips to the dump - picked Bazzo up and left him heading north to Crossens with Neill H.
Plenty of birds around, good sized melee of Wigeon, Blackwits, Goldies, Lapwing etc feeding at the back of Marshshide Two and Crossens, but no sign of the Goosander that Graham reported earlier.
A few Kestrels and a Merlin on the outer marsh, with small parties of Pinkies dotted hear and there.
The Ross's Goose was around earlier in the day, before flapping over to Martin Mere with the Pinks, and up to 12 Little Egrets had been on the outer marsh/mudflats.

Beady-eyed, this Kestrel watched a Stonechat and Robin flitting around the south side of the Sandplant compound wall, but the Stonechat got more hassle off the Robin than the raptor - it chased it off whenever it got into its feeding territory.

Skylarks chirruping about over the outer marsh, and a fair few Snipe dotted about, otherwise fairly quiet.
Redwings, Fieldfares, Curlews and Mipits passing over Dempsey Towers this afternoon, with one or two Skylarks and a few small Pink Feet skeins.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

25,900 Pinks on Ribble roost early this morning, the Ross's Goose was with them. Two female Goosanders dropped into Polly's pool this morning, very odd.
I picked up the Ross's Goose again on Burscough Moss late this afternoon in a large flock of Pinks, a Barnacle was there too.
Tommo counted 20,500 Pinks at the Martin Mere roost, again at dawn, so no shortage of the wink, wink, w*nk, w*nk, rascals.
Phonetics can be a terrible thing...
John,
Remarkably, whilst pursuing another of my recreational interests, I Googled "goose w*nk" and found myself back on your wonderful birdblog. And to think you once apologised to me for removing the word "*rsed" from something I submitted!
Never let it be said that Birdblog doesn't try to cater for the broadest of interests, although when I posted the latest update on goose movements from GC, this isn't quite what I had in mind!
Oh dear...there goes the neighbourhood.
Yerrss,
Well " I thought ****ing was a town in China until I discovered twitching"
Ron
3 November: Just one Swallow at Crosby Baths today, mobbed by Mipits and Wagtails every time it skimmed over the beach.
Still a trickle of Red Admirals heading south.
