Horrendous hooley type weather and a heavy workload kept me indoors today (probably the sanest place to be), but I had a very quick look at the Sands Lake at 3pm.
About 100 gulls riding out the storm on the water (much easier than toughing it out on the beach I guess).
Mainly Black Headed with a few Common, Herring and LBBs thrown in.
Shovelers are up to 9 now, but they were all asleep, bobbing about as a squall swept in off the Irish Sea, otherwise the usual - 40 odd Tufties, 100+ Mallards, Mute Swan, Moorhen, Coot etc.
A pre-roost gathering of 20+ Magpies was forming in the buckthorn at the northern end.
Although it was only 3.15pm it was already dark, so I headed back to the warmth of Dempsey Towers.
18 Black Tailed Godwits heading north west over the house this morning was interesting though.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
