With way too much garbage whirling round the normally empty barn between my ears at the moment I went for a stroll round the Sands Lake at Ainsdale this afternoon.
Didn't fancy another dusk encounter with the 6 Snow Buntings on the beach, especially on such a raw, grey afternoon (Chris Bridge took a few shots of 'em earlier and says he'll send 'em onto the blog anyway - ta Chris), so had a look in at the lake in the unlikely event there was anything new down there.
There wasn't.
Four Fieldfare were nice, perching up in the trees beside the Coast Road, and a party of Long Tailed Tits were around the top end.
Eight Shovelers around the island, but these three males were about the most animated.
Four Pochard, 60+ Tufties plus the usual Mallards, Mute Swan pair and Coots getting friskier by the minute...
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
