What a day!
No time for birding (but a trip to Marshside to welcome back the Avocets is on the cards for tomorrow I think), although singing Blackbird at Dempsey Towers was a good Spring sound to hear, amongst the nasal jabberings of Siskin (now four coming to the feeders) etc.
Thanks then to Derek Williams who snail-mailed me all his records from the mosses for January and February.
The February ones now follow (I'll type in the January ones when I get time), but if anyone wants to send me stuff, please use the Comments box or e-mail it (if you don't have my e-mail, just send me a message via the Comments box and I'll reply asap).
So here we go, Derek's February on the mosses - so far.

Thanks again Derek - interesting pattern of Med Gull records starting to emerge there, I wonder if birds gather on the mosslands before hitting the coast for the Marshside/Sefton shoreline roosts of the next week or two prior to the breeding season?
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Hi John,
Lee here, I read your blog religiously and love it, I have some good pics I would like to email you from around Chorley and Lancashire including the recent Waxwing, please could I have you email to see what you think?
Thanks Lee
Glad you like the blog Lee, address on the way to you...
11,000+ gulls on the Ainsdale-Birkdale shore this afternoon, not including the Weld Road end. I estimated 5000 Commons, 4000 Blackheads, 2000 Herrings and under 100 each of Lesser and Greater Black-backs. No dog disturbance for a change but I'm ashamed to say I couldn't find anything with them!
