Despite, or rather, because of the glorious weather today, Plex was pretty quiet - just one Wheatear (a male) by Getterns Farm, a few Swallows and Willow Warblers and a scattering of alba wags, Mipits and Stock Doves.
A pair of Grey Partridges were nice - by no means a regular sight out here now, but as soon as I edged the baby black death up the track, they ducked down into the furrows and out of view.
Tubby little weasels.
Their gaudier cousins posed no such problems.
The drake Garganey was nowhere to be seen by the time I got my birding head on and nipped down to Sands Lake - but it may just have been dozing under the overhanging branches or on the island.
Still plenty of Willow Warblers and a few Chiffies here though.
Nice bit of rain to ground migrants tonight, that's what we need.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
