
And while we're all in the holiday mood, muchas gracias to Chris Bridge for sending me these shots he took in Scotland recently.
Every bird was richly deserved, as Chris spent two weeks doing volunteer work at the RSPB's Abernethy site.
It seems the wages of volunteering north of the border are not, as widely supposed, too much porridge, midges where they shouldn't be and damp socks, but rather top notch birding - Dotterels, Black Throated Divers, Ptarmigan, Snow Bunts, red Grouse etc - who could ask for more?
